Great Wolf Lodge “Splash Mob” Delivers Howlin’ Good Time Event Gives Nod to Synchronized Swimmers and Other Athletes Competing This Week
DALLAS, TX (Aug. 8, 2012) – Waterpark guests at the Great Wolf Lodge in Grapevine, Texas, howled and cheered today as a pack of 350 Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA) cheerleaders – complete with wolf ears and tails – delivered a “Splash Mob” performance for unsuspecting onlookers. Great Wolf Lodge planned the surprise Splash Mob as a good luck gesture to U.S. team members competing in London this week.
Joining the cheerleaders at the event and assisting with the Splash Mob choreography was hall of famer and former member of the National Synchronized Swimming team, Carrie Garten.
“As a 16-year synchronized swimming veteran, I was honored when Great Wolf Lodge contacted me to help develop the choreography behind today’s Splash Mob,” said Garten. “With the current attention on synchronized swimming, I’m happy to participate in this event and share a taste of synchronized swimming in a fun way.”
Each summer, Great Wolf Lodge holds weeklong, summer camps for the UCA cheerleaders. When the resort decided to create the Splash Mob, it was a natural step to look to the camp participants and invite them to perform for unsuspecting resort guests.
“We were inspired by the sporting events taking place this summer and wanted to host a unique event,” said Nikki Donofrio, senior vice president, brand marketing, Great Wolf Lodge, “As we planned the Splash Mob, we did not have to look too far to find the perfect participants. The UCA Cheer Camp attendees have been great to work with and helped us put together an event our Great Wolf Lodge guests will remember for a long time.”
“Our cheerleaders were thrilled when they learned they would put on a Splash Mob for Great Wolf Lodge guests,” said Bill Seely, Senior Vice President of Training and Education, Universal Cheerleaders Association. “For the past three years we have brought our Summer Cheer Camps to Great Wolf Lodge. The cheerleaders and their families love taking part in the camps and experiencing all the resort has to offer. The surprise Splash Mob was exciting and fun for our camp participants.”
Photos and video from the Great Wolf Lodge Splash Mob can be viewed at the resort’s Facebook and YouTube pages, www.facebook.com/greatwolfwaterpark andwww.youtube.com/user/greatwolfwaterpark.
